![]() ![]() They allow you to stay within ZBrush for more of your workflow, doing things that were either impractical or even outright impossible to accomplish before now. All of these features are useful throughout the creative process, from initial creation of your model to beautifying your artwork. Signature features in ZBrush 4R7 include: ArrayMesh, NanoMesh and ZModeler with QMesh. In fact, 4R7 is one of the most extensive releases since ZBrush 4 came out. As with our previous point releases, it doesn't simply make a few minor changes but rather is packed with major additions. More details about the new release, quoted from the Pixologic website: ZBrush 4R7 is the final iteration within the ZBrush 4 series before we move to ZBrush 5.0. I'd really like to get off the Autodesk subscription chain gang this year, now that Softimage has been retired and a combination of Modo and ZBrush might fill my limited needs.Īny advice experienced ZBrushers can offer to improve the experience on the Surface Pro 3 or other Windows tablets are always welcomed. Nevertheless, I'm committed to stop complaining and learn this darned software once and for all. Even the best designed Artdock or custom toolbar will still compete for limited screen real estate. I set mine to Choco1 (see above) and this setting seems to be much easier on the eyes.Īnother drawback of the software is its reliance on keyboard commands and modifiers. Fortunately, the software offers many color combinations that help improve contrast. The default color scheme is also difficult to read if the SP3 screen has been dimmed at all. The non-standard interface is still ridiculously cramped along the top of the screen, with 23 very tiny dropdown menu labels nestled between the title bar and a tool shelf. I'm a thorough ZBrush noob and unfortunately the out-of-the-box experience on Windows tablets hasn't improved much. With this addition and improved rendering capability provided by a $200 Keyshot add-on, ZBrush may now be the only 3d tool required to complete many tasks. I've been excited for this update since it was first announced last fall because it adds polygonal modeling capabilities to the 3d sculpting software. ![]() I'm pleased to report that Pixologic's latest update to its flagship software, ZBrush 4R7 released earlier this week runs on the Surface Pro 3. ![]() ![]() ![]() Too many fonts can be jarring for your reader. There’s no one answer to how many fonts you should use in a book, but if you’re putting your book together and you’ve got more than six different fonts for the interior and cover tone it down. Alongside those, you could use unique fonts for your front matter, header/footer content, and loads of other kinds of text-section titles, footnotes, the dedication, etc. Then you’ll have your primary font for the body text (like Baskerville) and another stylized font for your chapter titles (like Bigshot One). For example, you might use a block-style font for the title (like Gotham) and a serif font for the subtitle and other cover text (like Caslon). If you go pick up any book off your bookshelf, you’ll likely be able to find five or six different fonts in use. Your book cover fonts are important too-for all the same reasons. The line length, height, page size, page margins, and letter spacing are just a few elements that are affected by your font choices. The font is just one of many page design considerations you must balance when creating your book interior. Weight – the line thickness of the letters, and elements like bold and italics.Font Size – the size of your letting based on the points sizing scale.Sans Serif Font – plain lettering without a serif.Serif Font – a ‘serif’ extends the letter to add style and help your eye track the text.Font Family – the subset the font is based on Times is a font family and fonts like Times New Roman or Times Bold 18 point are examples of fonts in the Times family.Font – the combination of the family, weight, and size of a letter.I don’t want to get into long and technical explanations of everything that goes into fonts, so let’s just do a few quick bullets with the most important info for our post today. Understanding Fontsįont (or typeface) is one of those writing and publishing-related terms you’ll hear often used to describe a few disparate things. Selecting the best, standard book font for your book will directly impact the reading experience for your customers. But if you pick your fonts poorly, everyone will notice. Here’s the thing: if you pick fonts for your novel well, no one will notice. All while going unnoticed by those same readers. Rather, you need to select a book font that complements your graphic design and page layout while meeting your reader’s expectations. But what’s more important is not precisely the font you choose. ![]() The typography you use for your book is important. There’s a sweet spot you need to look for the best font to print a book in without becoming overwhelmed or petrified with all the choices out there. That’s not a free pass to ignore the font for your novel though. There’s no need to agonize over your book font choice. If you’ve asked yourself this question (which I assume you have), I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you to relax. ![]() ![]() ![]() We already found a particular miner that first exploits a vulnerability then installs WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) scripts in order to download its coin-mining payload. Threats to Unsecured Home Routersįigure 2. More reports have even surfaced over the years of how hackers could break into home devices like baby monitors and smart TVs to remotely snoop on personal data or seize control of the devices themselves. The botnets harnessed vulnerable devices such as IP cameras and routers to cripple several networks and wreak significant downtime. Mirai, Persirai, and Reaper botnet attacks have already driven the point home: unsecured connected devices can be highly disruptive. The sheer number of entry points can put the devices at the attackers’ mercy, either by locking them up with ransomware or even making them part of an army of botnets for distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. The current reality of having many internet-connected devices in the home, however, has given rise to another type of intruder - one whose point of entry is the home network, where connected devices are potentially open to compromise. Home intrusions are often pictured in the form of physical break-ins. ![]() ![]() Next door at Incendiary Brewing, started by two locals in 2018, the crowd sways and sings along with the band playing in the corner - it’s standing room only at the bar, where patrons line up to order porters, pilsners and American IPAs. We thought the prices were a bit high for the wine ($19 for a glass of pinot), but generally the food prices were in line with the quality of the food. There was an extensive wine selection, especially of dry French wines. We found it a bit strange that the butter for the bread had a layer of salt on top, and that our chocolate dessert also had a touch of salt. Perhaps one of the others would have been a better choice. There were 6 to choose from, and the Horseradish & Honey Creme Fraiche Butter was my choice. A little short on flavor I thought, but the "housemade accompaniment" helped a bit. The filet was tender and cooked medium as ordered. The salmon would have benefited from a sauce, but had a nice crisp to the outside and was very tasty but a little dry. We had the roasted salmon and the filet mignon meals. Our server was superb, so she earned them the extra points. I would have gone for 3 1/2 stars, but that's not an option so I went with 4. We’re not talking about a cheap breakfast either.40$ for two and no juice or fruit included!! Never again!! More But, unfortunately, this time turned me off completely. I have been here a number of times before and always had a nice experience. The problem here? An incompetent server with no attention to detail and TOO FEW workers. After another LONG delay our order arrived and …NO OMELETTE!! Scrambled! My sister’s muffin not even TOASTED. When our server took our order, I asked for an omelette and my sister, an English muffin. I finally just got up and asked someone else and I got some. 10 minutes later, my coffee is getting cold and NO creamer. I told her that I’d like some creamer and she said that she’ll get some. The server was pleasant and brought me coffee. No one even offered us any attention at our table until 30 minutes later. What a disappointment!! The reservation was for 8:30 am. ![]() My sister was visiting and I thought she’d enjoy breakfast here-especially because the Cardinal Hotel is a beautifully preserved Art Deco gem. I'd recommend The Katharine, especially to tired hotel guests who don't feel up to leaving the hotel to find a place for dinner. In spite of the hotel's fire alarm going off in the middle of the dinner, and us having to evacuate to the street for a good ten minutes or so, the meal was enjoyable. Everyone loved the desserts, however, which were the s'mores pot du creme and the apple tart. The chicken au poive was also enjoyable.more so than the trout, which was overpowered by the vinegary potatoes. The steaks were very well cooked, well seasoned and quite good. We started with the onion soup and a simple arugula salad, both of which were quite tasty.įor the entrees, two people got steak, each served with a different house-made compound butter.
